About the Mighty Marching Panthers...

The Clark Atlanta University Mighty Marching Panther Band is taking it to another level!  This marching band is heralded for its precision drills, pageantry, custom arrangements, intense spirit and phenomenal sound.  From the time the band enters the stadium, you know that you are in for a treat!  The CAU Mighty Marching Panthers are known throughout the nation for their technical artistry and strong commitment to excellence in all areas of performance.  Under the dynamic and innovative musical mastery of Cedric V. Young, the Marching Panther Band includes the finest musicians in the CAU family, a dedicated staff, the beautiful and vivacious dance team - Essence, and two strikingly talented featured twirlers.  This band is unstoppable!

The band has been featured in many venues, including the 1999 NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons Parade, the Tom Joyner Morning Show, the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Home Depot, and numerous concerts.  The Mighty Marching Panthers have collaborated with known personalities, including the SOS Band.  The band has been featured in the gospel video, "Highly Recommended," produced and directed by Darryl Lassiter, and the movie, Pay the Price, which was released on video and DVD on December 10, 2002.  CAU Band students are featured instrumentalists for the song, "The Kid in You," on the soundtrack to the Disney movie, The Country Bears.  The Clark Atlanta University band collaborated with music mogul, Dallas Austin, and is featured in the movie, Drumline.  In this movie, the band is featured, and several students in the CAU band help to comprise the fictitious "Atlanta A & T Band."  Also in the movie, the entire CAU Band drum section is featured as the fictitious "Delta A & M" percussion section, which ignites sparks with the Atlanta A & T percussion section.  Drumline and Pay the Price were shot on the historic Clark Atlanta University campus.  In January of 2003, the Clark Atlanta University Mighty Marching Panthers thrilled out a sold-out audience at the first annual Honda Battle of the Bands, which was held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Dome.  In February of the same year, the Marching Panthers were very active during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Atlanta.  They performed for the NBA All-Star Weekend Grand Opening, the NBA Celebrity Basketball Game, and with rap star, Lil' Kim, at the Georgia Dome.  Also in 2003, the band was featured on MTV and the BET Mad Sports Show.  The Mighty Marching Panthers were the "center of attention" recently at the Gold Coast Classic in San Diego, California.  On Friday, January 2, 2004, the Panther band gave a phenomenal opening performance for the 2004 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Parade, held in Atlanta, Georgia.  On January 24, 2004, the band will return to the Honda Battle of the Bands for a second time, where they will represent the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in this exciting showcase of HBCU bands.
